Around the Web #3

Ariel Ameijenda, our favorite guitar builder from Uruguay, just sent me this link of his guitar(s?) being played in a "quartet." Once I caught on I was reminded of the second video (go to 1:27 for the best part) which I find oh, so entertaining!

Funny Clients

We have been lucky to work with some wonderful and funny people over the years and here are some of my favorite quips:

"Friederich is fantastic but I'm disappointed to not get an amp and a DVD like the ones that came with my Esteban."

"Just wanted to let you know I got the guitar today...did I say guitar? It's a monster! WOW!... Problem is that it came here in the morning and I can't really play it as I'm up here workin' for the man. It's sitting under my desk wondering why it's here if I didn't want to play it."

Off to GFA 2010

Well, I am headed out on the road this morning to Austin, TX for the 2010 Guitar Foundation of America Convention and Competition. I'm driving in with luthier extraordinaire Michael Peters and I'm looking forward to my first visit to the state of Texas.

Goth-sienne No.1 by Erik Satie

So here is slightly different take on this wonderful piece.

Around the Web #2

It's Saturday at the shop and all of the guitars are tuned up, polished, and sounding good so I thought I'd share a few fun things from around the web.

This little gem first caught my attention with it's usage of the adjective, "nightmare" but then the little, tasty pun at the end made me wonder if it was intentional and looking for a cheap laugh or purely accidental and therefore; funny. Thoughts?

Trilogy Futures: Kathrin Hauser

The wait is over! The first Kathrin Hauser to hit the United States will be landing at Trilogy Guitars next week. Kathrin has been working with her father in the Hauser workshop for many years honing her skills, embracing the craft, and helping Hermann III turn out some of most beautiful classical guitars available (quite a few of those we had the pleasure of handling!).

Around the Web: Roland Dyens and James Taylor

Here are a couple of links from the around the web to satisfy your classical, jazz and steel string desires!

Solo? Guitar by Metheny

I am a huge proponent of acoustic instruments, acoustic music and especially solo guitar. I love the simplicity, the directness of the tone and the close connection to the performer. But sometimes gear and electronics are just way too cool!

Metheny and the Orchestrion

Trilogy Tie-Block #1

We had quite a week, two weeks here at the shop and Tie-Block #1 is here to wrap it up for you! We welcomed not a only a great performer to the Trilogy Triangle but an exciting new builder and a fantastic new case as well. More after the jump.

Are your guitars insured properly?

Our wonderful insurance provider, Heritage Insurance Services Inc., has just sent out another great newsletter highlighting the differences between your Homeowners insurance and that of a dedicated musical instrument provider. This is a common concern and Heritage has the precise answers for you here. These are reasons we use Heritage to cover not only Trilogy Guitars but our personal instruments as well. Below is the reprint of the Heritage newsletter. Enjoy!
