Trilogy Futures: Kathrin Hauser

The wait is over! The first Kathrin Hauser to hit the United States will be landing at Trilogy Guitars next week. Kathrin has been working with her father in the Hauser workshop for many years honing her skills, embracing the craft, and helping Hermann III turn out some of most beautiful classical guitars available (quite a few of those we had the pleasure of handling!).

But now as Kathrin is progressing towards her Master Builder status she has started producing guitars under her own label.  I have been lucky enough to visit their Hauser family twice in the last year and was able to play a couple of Kathrin's guitars including this little gem:

I was so impressed by Kathrin's guitars both in their depth of sound (even the little guy above had such a commanding tone!) and the quality of her workmanship. But I was not surprised by how good the guitars were as she has most certainly inherited her father's warm and open personality, excellent work ethic, and great sense of humor which once again proves one of the first things John said to me when I started working at Trilogy, "Great people make great guitars." Of course, being a 5th generation instrument builder (don't forget that Hermann I's father Josef was not only an accomplished zither player and composer but also started a shop producing zithers, guitars, lutes, mandolins and violins) and studying under the watchful eyes and steady hands of Hermann III  provides a wonderful foundation for her to build upon!

Label for Kathrin Hauser #7

Here are John and Kathrin with guitar #7 coming soon to a Trilogy near you! The guitar is special edition and modeled after a guitar built in 1927 for Andres Segovia. It is German spruce with Indian Rosewood back and sides and Reischl tuning machines. I can't wait to hear this one upstairs! Maybe I'll bring a few friends in and we'll lay down some recordings which I'd be happy to share with you all here in Ryan's Room.
